THE FIRST COMMENCEMENT

Graduating Exercises at Bellows Free Academy at Fairfax

Fairfax, June 17 -- The first commencement exercises of the Bellows Free Academy were held at Academy hall here yesterday, beginning at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The following programme was carried out:

Music overture, "Under the American Eagle", orchestra; prayer, the Rev. A. Frank Ufford; music, "Santiago", orchestra; oration, "Japanese Heroism", Ralph Stratton Wolcott; music, "Zenoba", march, orchestra; address, Congressman D. J. Foster, of Burlington; music, "Alone", orchestra; presentation of class, Principal M. D. Chittenden; conferring of diplomas, Charles H. Brush, President of the board of trustees; music, "In a Birch Canoe", orchestra. There was one graduate in Latin Scientific course, Ralph Stratton Wolcott, of Milton.

In the evening a pleasant reception was given by the teachers and pupils to the citizens
